GTA: Vice City Runs Natively in Browser via reVC Port, Supports Smartphones and High Frame Rates
GTA: Vice City has returned in a fully playable browser port that runs on both computers and smartphones without requiring any separate client installation.
The version hosted on the Quenq site launches directly in the browser and supports keyboard, controller, and touch-screen input. Users can access save files, a mod manager, cheat-code entry from external keyboards, and adjustable frame-rate settings.
Journalists tested the port on an OnePlus 12 device, confirming rapid loading and stable performance in both landscape and portrait orientations.
On desktop systems the game has been observed running above 100 FPS, significantly higher than the original 30 FPS target; at these elevated rates the physics simulation can behave unpredictably.
The browser implementation is believed to be built on the reVC project, which decompiled the original Vice City source code. WebAssembly converts the C++ code for browser execution while WebGL 2 handles GPU rendering.
A similar port of GTA III based on the re3 project is also available on the same site. Menu elements referencing the earlier DOS Zone project indicate a direct lineage between the two browser efforts.
In 2025 the service faced a temporary shutdown following a DMCA complaint from Take-Two; the games are currently accessible again, although copyright questions remain unresolved.
Technologically the achievement is notable: a title that originally required dedicated console hardware in 2002 now executes inside a mobile browser tab.
